Rooted in research, memory and material this work by Northern Irish artist Eimear Magee explores the human stories embedded within Ulster's linen industry, bringing together cloth, sound and storytelling to create a contemporary response to a facing heritage.
The structure of the installation reflects both the physical architecture of the mill and the vertical movement of thread in production. Constructed from hand-carved timber, the chandelier-like form evokes the worn, industrial character of historic mill interiors. Suspended aprons form its core, garments that symbolise labour, care and identity, while cascading elements extend downward like spun fibres, suggesting both production and loss.
