2nd April 1912

On This Day

Following yesterday’s delay caused by strong winds Titanic was officially handed over today to her owners the Oceanic Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., (White Star Line).

She left Belfast, under the command of Captain Edward J. Smith, RNR, and proceeded in tow of tugs to Belfast Lough, where her compasses were adjusted and speed trials took place over a measured mile.
