On this day, The Cunard liner Carpathia arrived at New York today with the surviving passengers and crew of Titanic.
The Cunarder was berthed at Pier 54 in the North River at 9.30pm. Onboard were 743 of her own passengers and a reported ‘705’ passengers and crew belonging to Titanic. The numbers regarding those that sailed, lost or survived proves to this day to be one of the most debated aspects of the Titanic disaster.
