The White Star liner Oceanic was launched today!
The launch was witnessed by an estimated 150,000 spectators, including T. H. Ismay, Chairman of the Line and 1,000 specially invited guests including Lord Londonderry and Lord Dufferin.
They called Oceanic the 'crowning glory of the 19th century', her opulence eclipsing even that of the Olympic-class liners.
