TITANIC Belfast welcomed families supported by Young Lives vs Cancer to enjoy its much-loved A Magical Christmas Experience.
The festive invitation was part of a continued partnership between the world-leading visitor attraction and Young Lives vs Cancer to support the vital services of the charity which helps children and young people from birth to 25 years of age and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.
For the second continuous year, Titanic Belfast has made a £40,000 donation on behalf of the lender of a historically significant artefact collection currently displayed within the Titanic Experience.
A donation of this significance could help provide 1,539 hours of support from a Young Lives Vs Cancer Social Worker. From the moment a child or young person receives a cancer diagnosis, they remain by a family’s side, helping them navigate hospital life, financial pressures and emotional challenges.
It could also fund 572 overnight stays in one of the charity’s homes in Belfast, Paul’s House and Amy’s House, to provide young people and families with a free place to stay nearby to where they or their child is having cancer treatment.
Ben Green from Young Lives Vs Cancer said: “We are incredibly grateful to Titanic Belfast for its continued support and for inviting our families to experience such a special event. For children and young people going through cancer, moments like this where they can step away from hospital life and spend quality time together, mean more than words can express. The financial support provided is also making a significant difference and together, we’re ensuring families feel supported and less alone, which is hugely important.”
Eimear Kearney, Commercial Director of Titanic Belfast said: “We were delighted to once again welcome families supported by Young Lives Vs Cancer to enjoy A Magical Christmas Experience. This is the second year of our partnership with the charity, and we are proud that, together with the artefact lender, we have been able to donate £80,000 to date to Young Lives Vs Cancer, to help support its vital work and services. Being able to contribute in a meaningful way and see the joy these moments bring to families going through such a difficult time means a great deal to all of us at Titanic Belfast.”
