Out of Stores: Explore Our Shipyard Collection

2nd - 31st August

Titanic Foundation Ltd put their collection on display at Titanic Belfast

Titanic Foundation Ltd., the charity set up to preserve Belfast's maritime and industrial heritage, will be opening their archives for one month only and putting some of their unique Harland and Wolff artefacts on display in The Andrews Gallery at Titanic Belfast!

Many of the items relating to the shipyard have been donated by former employees and their families or collected through projects the charity has worked on such as the restoration of the H&W Drawing Offices or SS Nomadic, and have never been on display before.

At their peak, Harland & Wolff were one of Belfast's biggest employers and this fascinating exhibition celebrates the hard work and passion of the islandmen by examining the tools of their trade from across the shipyard. On display will be everything from delicate draughtsman’s tools to a shipwright’s adze and a huge industrial sewing machine.

The exhibition also includes some of the panelling from SS Nomadic will be on display in its original condition as well as spare portholes, alongside some of the bamboo stretchers used to transport injured workers.
