Each gallery focuses on a unique part of the Titanic story and the context of the period in which it was built. This offers young people a comprehensive overview of the key aspects of social history, industrial developments and engineering advancements. Factual information is brought to life through scale replicas, multimedia displays, digital interactive displays, moving images and sensory experiences. From inception to modern day, 100 years of landmark ship building and ocean exploration offers a diverse range of topics for discussion and learning.
Putting education at the heart of Titanic Belfast is vital to the ethos of the project. To support the learning experience, Titanic Belfast has three special facilities:
• Education Suite – An education facility which accommodates up to 35 people. This is where groups can delve a little deeper and take part in structured programmes designed by Titanic Belfast’s Education officer, Siobhan McCartney.
• Andrews Gallery – A large gallery space available to host exhibitions from the communities and groups engaged with Titanic Belfast. Designed with maximum flexibility, this space will be continually animated with changing events.
• Ocean Exploration Centre - working in partnership with universities and research facilities around the world, the Ocean Exploration Centre offers continually updated information and images from below the waves. The OEC gives unrivalled access to the geography, marine biology, sea life, marine archaeology and mapping of coastal areas. Relationships with Dr. Ballard and local experts ensure the OEC remains a primary resource for marine exploration and learning.
